McFall named volunteer of year
Trudy McFall, of Annapolis, a longtime volunteer and pioneer in the
affordable housing field, has been selected for the third annual Anne
Arundel County Volunteer of the Year Award.
This award is presented to an individual with a proven record of
volunteerism who, through time, talent, caring and individual
resources, has demonstrated his or her outstanding commitment to the
community.
In Ms. McFall's honor, a $1,000
check, will be presented to Homes for America at the Celebrate
Philanthropy Luncheon on Nov. 17 at the Sheraton Annapolis Hotel.
She
has been chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Annapolis
Housing Authority for the past three years and had led it in
progressive new policies. As president from 1995 to 2002 of the Anne
Arundel Affordable Housing Coalition, she created a strong active
coalition of more than 100 individuals and organizations to promote
affordable housing in the county. She continues as a board member and
committee chairman.
Ms. McFall also is a
longtime board member of the Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation; "Big
Buddy" volunteer at Camp Nabe; foster parent and kennel volunteer at
the Annapolis SPCA; chairman of the Legislative Committee, Maryland
Affordable Housing Coalition; and member of the Annapolis Housing and
Community Development Committee.
She is a former board member of Arundel Habitat for Humanity and chairman of the Mayor's Housing Committee.
Along
with Philanthropists of the Year, Tom and Peggy Baldwin, Ms. McFall
will be honored at the fifth annual awards luncheon to celebrate
philanthropy in the county. A reception will be held at 11.30 a.m. with
luncheon at noon. The event is presented by Kaiser Permanente in
partnership with the Community Foundation of the Chesapeake and the
Association of Fundraising Professionals, Maryland Chapter. It ties in
with National Philanthropy Day.
Nonprofit
organizations may bring their board members, volunteers, staff and
favorite philanthropist to lunch. Tickets are $40. For reservations,
